Jamie Smith received a JD and MA in international affairs from the George Washington University, holds a certificate in international human rights law from Oxford University, and is a certified mediator. She is licensed to practice law in the District of Columbia. As a practicing attorney, she focuses on civil litigation. She has extensive appellate experience and has worked on high-profile complex litigation.

Smith has been teaching since 2006 and has developed and taught a variety of classes at both brick-and-mortar and online schools. She previously served as chair of an online graduate program and has co-authored a book on success for the online student.
